These insects are common inhabitants of temperate orchards and woodland ecosystems. While sometimes acting as opportunistic predators, they are primarily recognized in agricultural science as pests that cause damage to the foliage of various woody plants.

The primary host plants for this pest include apple trees (Malus) and hazelnut trees (Corylus). The nymphs and adults utilize their piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on the sap of young leaves. This feeding activity disrupts the leaf’s photosynthesis and overall plant health, which can lead to reduced vigor, particularly in nursery stocks or young, sensitive orchards.
