The biology of this species is characterized by rapid reproduction cycles during the growing season. The aphids form dense colonies on terminal shoots and needles. Both apterous and alate forms are present, allowing the pest to colonize new plant hosts efficiently within gardens and nursery settings.
The primary damage is caused by the aphids extracting phloem sap from the host plant. During their feeding process, they excrete honeydew, which serves as a medium for sooty mold fungi.
