The primary host range for this pest includes various species within the Bromeliaceae family, such as ornamental bromeliads and pineapples. Furthermore, certain palm species are susceptible to infestation, as the weevil targets the soft tissues of the stem and the bases of the fronds to lay its eggs and sustain its larvae.
