Microplitis maculipennis is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the order Hymenoptera and the family Braconidae. It is widely recognized in agriculture not as a plant pest, but as a beneficial parasitoid that plays a vital role in natural pest suppression by targeting various lepidopteran larvae.

This species primarily attacks larvae of Noctuidae (cutworms and armyworms), which are notorious for causing heavy damage to a variety of commercial crops, including maize, tomatoes, sunflowers, and diverse vegetable crops.
