Description

Micropodisma salamandra is a restricted-range species of short-horned grasshopper belonging to the Acrididae family and the Melanoplinae subfamily. This insect is primarily found in the alpine and subalpine regions of Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in the Alps and the Carpathian Mountains, inhabiting high-altitude meadows.

The damage caused by this species is generally localized. As a phytophagous insect, it feeds on a variety of grasses and herbaceous plants common in mountain ecosystems.
