The blister beetle (Mylabris oculata) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Meloidae. This beetle is recognized as a significant agricultural pest, particularly in warmer climates, where it poses a constant threat to various crops by primarily feeding on their reproductive structures.
The host range of Mylabris oculata is broad, with a clear preference for leguminous plants. It frequently causes economic losses in fields of soybeans, beans, peanuts, and alfalfa.
