Mouse fur mite

The Mouse fur mite (Myocoptes musculinus) is a parasitic mite belonging to the order Sarcoptiformes and the family Myocoptidae. It is a highly host-specific ectoparasite that primarily infests the house mouse. While not an agricultural crop pest, it is a significant concern in facilities where rodent control is essential for maintaining product safety and hygiene.

The biology of this mite is characterized by an obligate relationship with its host. The entire life cycle, including eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults, takes place on the host's fur.
