Myopites limbardae is a species of fruit fly belonging to the family Tephritidae. These insects are well-known as specialized gall-formers that primarily target plants within the Asteraceae family, with Inula viscosa being the most notable host plant for their larval development.

The biology of this pest is centered around the formation of galls in the flower heads of the host plant. Female flies lay eggs inside the developing buds. Once the larvae hatch, they feed on the floral tissues, triggering the host plant to create a gall—an abnormal growth that serves as both a nutritional source and a protective shelter for the developing larvae.

The damage caused by Myopites limbardae includes the physical deformation of the plant's reproductive structures. By consuming the interior of the flower heads, the larvae severely inhibit seed production and weaken the plant's overall health.
