The white-striped armyworm (Mythimna venalba) is a member of the order Lepidoptera, belonging to the Noctuidae family. This insect is recognized as a significant agricultural pest that primarily targets cereal crops in various climatic zones, posing a consistent threat to commercial grain production.

The larvae of this species are specialized foliage feeders. They commonly attack major cereal crops such as wheat, barley, oats, and millet. In addition to cultivated plants, they often thrive on various wild grasses found in field margins, which serves to maintain population levels even when primary crop fields are harvested.
