The rice leaf moth (Naranga aenescens) is a significant lepidopteran pest belonging to the Noctuidae family. It is widely recognized in rice-producing regions for its ability to cause substantial damage to crops, particularly in Asian agricultural systems where rice cultivation is intensive.
This species primarily targets rice plants (Oryza sativa), although it may occasionally infest other grasses. The pest is highly adapted to aquatic environments typical of rice paddies, where the humidity and temperature provide optimal conditions for rapid population growth throughout the growing season.
