Description
The Neoaliturus leafhopper belongs to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae. These small insects are recognized as significant agricultural pests, primarily known for their direct damage to foliage and their dangerous role as efficient vectors for various plant pathogens.
This pest affects a wide range of host plants, including sugar beets, various vegetables, and legumes. Because of their polyphagous nature, Neoaliturus species can easily migrate between wild hosts and cultivated fields, making them difficult to manage in diverse cropping systems.
The biology of the leafhopper involves a life cycle consisting of egg, nymphal stages, and adult stages. They typically thrive in warm, arid environments.
