Neoseiulus

Neoseiulus is a genus of predatory mites belonging to the family Phytoseiidae. In agronomy, these mites are not pests but rather essential biological control agents used to manage populations of spider mites, thrips, and other herbivorous mites. They are a staple tool in modern integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

Taxonomically, Neoseiulus belongs to the order Parasitiformes. Their life cycle comprises several distinct stages: egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult. The speed of their development is highly temperature-dependent, allowing them to rapidly colonize greenhouse environments and suppress pest outbreaks before they cause significant economic damage to crops.

These mites are versatile predators utilized on a wide range of horticultural crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, and ornamental flowers.
