Neoseiulus chilenensis is a predatory mite belonging to the Phytoseiidae family, which falls under the order Mesostigmata. These mites are recognized for their role in natural pest suppression within various agricultural ecosystems, primarily targeting spider mites and other small arthropods that damage crops.

The morphology of Neoseiulus chilenensis is typical for phytoseiid mites, characterized by a smooth, pear-shaped body. Their color often reflects the pigments of their most recent meal. Being active predators, they patrol leaf surfaces, hunting for prey by sensing chemical cues or physical vibrations.

Regarding their diet, they are generalist predators. While they prefer spider mites (Tetranychidae), they are capable of surviving on alternative food sources, such as pollen and nectar.
