The green rice leafhopper (Nephotettix cincticeps) is a destructive agricultural pest belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae. It is widely recognized as one of the most critical threats to rice cultivation, particularly in East Asian agricultural systems, causing both direct physical damage and severe indirect viral impact.
The pest primarily targets rice plants (Oryza sativa). Both nymphs and adults feed by inserting their needle-like mouthparts into the phloem of leaves and stems to extract plant sap.
