Host plants: The primary host for this species is the pear tree (genus Pyrus). The aphids typically colonize the abaxial (lower) surface of the leaves, where they establish dense, often inconspicuous colonies that persist throughout the growing season, exploiting the nutrient-rich phloem sap.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle involves successive generations of parthenogenetic females, which allows for rapid population growth under favorable environmental conditions. The species overwinters as eggs, which are deposited in bark crevices or near buds, ensuring a quick start to the infestation cycle the following spring.

Damage and harm: Feeding activity causes leaves to yellow, curl, and drop prematurely. Furthermore, the aphids excrete honeydew, a sugary byproduct that serves as a medium for sooty mold fungi. This mold coats the leaf surface, blocking sunlight and reducing the tree's photosynthetic capacity, which leads to stunted growth and reduced fruit quality.

Management strategies: Successful control of Nippolachnus pyri requires an integrated approach:
