This pest prefers humid environments and is commonly found near water bodies or in waterlogged field areas. The larvae of Oplodontha are capable of damaging the underground parts of young plants by feeding on organic matter and occasionally targeting the root zones of cereal crops. During periods of excessive rainfall or poor drainage, their activity tends to increase, posing risks to seedling establishment.
