Orthotylus flavosparsus is a species of plant bug belonging to the family Miridae. Known for its distinct appearance and host-specific feeding habits, it is recognized in agricultural settings as a pest capable of impacting the health and development of several cultivated and wild plant species.

The primary host range for this pest includes members of the Chenopodiaceae family. Crops such as sugar beet, red beet, and various spinach varieties are particularly susceptible to infestation. Furthermore, common field weeds like fat-hen (Chenopodium album) serve as essential host plants that support the bug’s population throughout the growing season.

The life cycle involves overwintering as eggs within crop debris or stems. Upon hatching, the nymphs undergo several molts through five distinct instars before reaching the adult stage.
