Description
Systematic position: Oxya formosana belongs to the order Orthoptera and the family Acrididae. Known commonly as the Formosan rice grasshopper, it is a specialized insect species often found in wetlands and paddy fields where environmental conditions are optimal for its development.
Affected crops and economic importance: This pest primarily targets rice (Oryza sativa). However, it is also documented to feed on sugarcane, maize, and various species of grasses.
