The blueberry aphid (Pachypappa myrtilli) belongs to the order Hemiptera and the family Aphididae. It is a specialized pest closely associated with plants of the Ericaceae family, particularly blueberries and bilberries, causing significant damage to their vegetative parts.
The primary crops affected by this pest are members of the genus Vaccinium. The aphid forms colonies on shoots and leaves, extracting cellular sap, which leads to the depletion of the plant. Young plantations and wild blueberry thickets in forest and garden areas are most severely impacted.
