The genus Paraamblyseius is a group within the Phytoseiidae family, belonging to the order Mesostigmata. While many members of this family are known for their predatory habits, species categorized within Paraamblyseius are often studied for their complex ecological interactions with plants, including phytophagous behaviors that can classify them as agricultural pests under certain conditions.

These mites typically infest a variety of crops, including fruit trees and various ornamental greenhouse plants. Their ability to thrive in controlled environments makes them a significant concern for intensive agriculture. By exploiting the nutrient-rich tissues of host plants, these pests can cause substantial economic losses in commercial plantations.
