Description

The Paraphlepsius genus belongs to the Cicadellidae family within the order Hemiptera. These insects are well-known leafhoppers that occupy various ecological niches and are recognized as significant pests in agriculture due to their direct feeding activities and their role as vectors for phytopathogens.

These insects primarily target a variety of woody plants, berries, and several forage crops. By piercing the plant tissues and extracting sap, they cause physiological stress to the host plants, which is particularly detrimental during periods of active growth and fruit development.

The life cycle of the Paraphlepsius consists of incomplete metamorphosis: egg, five nymphal instars, and the adult stage. Eggs are typically inserted into plant tissues for protection during dormancy.
