Description
Pemphigus chomoensis is a species of gall-forming aphid belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Aphididae. It is recognized primarily for its role as a specialized parasite that induces the formation of protective galls on host plants, specifically within the genus Populus.
The host range is largely limited to poplar trees. These insects utilize the tree's physiological response to their feeding, which results in localized abnormal tissue growth, creating a micro-environment where the aphids can feed and reproduce protected from environmental stressors.
