This pest is primarily associated with fruit trees and ornamental woody plants. It targets the developmental stages of various pests inhabiting the bark or wood of the plants. By affecting the tree's internal structures or the surrounding environment, it indirectly hampers the plant's health and productivity, often leading to reduced vigor.

The biology of Peridesmia discus is characterized by a complex lifecycle involving egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. The female insect typically seeks out host insects or specific plant environments to deposit its eggs.
