Perilampsis miratrix is a fruit fly species belonging to the family Tephritidae, order Diptera. Known primarily as an agricultural pest, it primarily affects the fruit of various plant species in specific geographic regions, often causing significant losses for horticultural growers.

The primary hosts of this species include a range of fruit crops. The female fly utilizes its ovipositor to insert eggs beneath the skin of ripening fruit. The larvae then hatch and burrow into the pulp, where they feed extensively. This internal feeding is the primary cause of fruit destruction, leading to premature ripening, decay, and abscission of the infested fruits.

The life cycle begins with the egg stage, followed by several larval instars within the fruit.
