The genus Phymata, commonly known as ambush bugs, belongs to the family Phymatidae within the order Hemiptera. These insects are masters of camouflage, evolving to blend perfectly with the colors and shapes of flower petals to await unsuspecting prey, which often includes critical pollinators.

While they act as natural controllers of certain pests, their impact on agriculture is predominantly negative regarding the protection of beneficial pollinating insects.
