The four-row leaf miner fly (Phytomyza tetrasticha) is a member of the Agromyzidae family within the order Diptera. It is an specialized agricultural pest that primarily feeds on the interior tissues of leaves, creating distinctive patterns known as mines, which are the hallmark of its larval stage activity.

This species predominantly targets plants belonging to the Asteraceae family. Its presence is frequently documented in commercial sunflower fields and various wild host plants that support its life cycle throughout the growing season.
