The pest typically infests various woody crops, ornamentals, and fruit trees. It preferentially colonizes the abaxial (underside) surfaces of leaves, where the microclimate provides protection from environmental extremes and predators, allowing the population to thrive undisturbed in initial stages.

The biological life cycle of this mite consists of egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages.
