This insect is primarily recognized as a specialized pest that infests various conifer species, with a strong preference for the genus Pinus. As an agricultural and forestry pest, it can negatively impact the development and vigor of young pine stands.

The primary host plants for this bug are various types of pines. The insect feeds on the sap of young, actively growing needles and soft tissue of shoots. By extracting plant fluids, it causes physiological stress to the tree, which can be particularly damaging to nursery saplings and young reforestation areas that are sensitive to nutrient loss.

The life cycle of the species follows a typical hemimetabolous development, consisting of the egg, five nymphal instars, and the adult stage.
