Systematic position. Pseudophacopteron belongs to the order Hemiptera, suborder Psylloidea, and the family Phacopteronidae. These insects are specialized phytophages, primarily recognized for their ability to induce gall formation on the leaves and stems of their specific host plants, primarily within tropical ecosystems.

Host plants. The primary hosts for this genus are plants belonging to the Fabaceae family, most notably trees of the Dalbergia genus. These pests can cause severe outbreaks in both native forests and managed forestry plantations, threatening the long-term health and development of these valuable leguminous trees.

Biology and life cycle. The life cycle of Pseudophacopteron is synchronized with the flushing periods of the host plant. Females oviposit into the young, developing plant tissues. Upon hatching, the larvae initiate feeding, which triggers an abnormal cellular growth response in the plant, resulting in the development of protective galls that harbor the insects throughout their juvenile stages.

Damage and economic impact. The primary damage is caused by the formation of galls, which significantly impair the physiological performance of the affected plant parts.
