Description
The genus Psyttalia belongs to the order Hymenoptera and the family Braconidae. It is vital to clarify that these insects are not plant pests but rather beneficial parasitoid wasps that act as crucial natural enemies to various species of fruit flies (Tephritidae) that damage horticultural crops.
These wasps are highly specialized predators that target the larval stages of agricultural pests.
