The rock pyramid snail (Pyramidula rupestris) is a small terrestrial gastropod mollusc belonging to the Pyramidulidae family. While often found in natural rocky habitats, it can become a notable pest in agricultural and horticultural settings where environmental conditions favor its proliferation.
This pest primarily attacks succulent plant tissues, seedlings, and low-growing ornamental crops. It is particularly damaging in nurseries and greenhouses, where high humidity and moderate temperatures provide optimal conditions for the snail to feed and reproduce throughout the growing season.
The biology of Pyramidula rupestris is characterized by a rapid life cycle and moisture dependency. Eggs are typically laid in damp soil or decaying organic matter.
