The genus Pyrrhia belongs to the family Noctuidae, order Lepidoptera. The most common species, often referred to as the Bordered sallow (Pyrrhia umbra), is a nocturnal moth species that can cause economic damage to various agricultural crops and wild plants.
This pest affects a wide range of host plants, including legumes, cotton, tomatoes, and various ornamental flowers. Larvae show a strong preference for the reproductive parts of plants, such as buds and blossoms, which directly leads to a reduction in fruit set and overall plant vigor.
