Systematic position. The willow margin gall midge (Rabdophaga marginemtorquens) belongs to the order Diptera, family Cecidomyiidae. This insect is a specialized pest known for inducing specific structural deformations on the foliage of host plants through its larval feeding activities.

Host plants and damage symptoms. This pest primarily attacks various species of willow (Salix). The damage is characterized by the rolling or curling of the leaf margins downwards, forming distinct, thickened gall structures. Inside these galls, larvae feed on plant tissues, causing stunted leaf growth, discoloration, and significant morphological changes.
