The leafhopper genus Recilia belongs to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae. These insects are significant agricultural pests known for their piercing-sucking mouthparts, which allow them to feed efficiently on the vascular tissues of various plants, causing substantial economic loss.

These pests primarily target cereal crops, including wheat, barley, and various grasses. Because they are polyphagous, Recilia species can sustain themselves on a wide range of host plants, moving into crop fields from surrounding wild vegetation or field margins during the growing season.
