Description
Systematic position. This pest belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae (weevils). Rhabdoscelus obscurus is recognized as a significant economic pest, particularly in regions where sugarcane and palms are grown commercially.
Host crops. The primary target for this insect is sugarcane, although it is also known to infest coconut palms, oil palms, and certain types of banana plants. Its ability to adapt to various monocot hosts makes it a persistent threat to tropical agriculture.
