Among the species of this genus, Selitrichodes nesae is widely recognized as a significant invasive pest that specifically targets eucalyptus trees, causing substantial economic losses in plantations and urban forestry globally.

The host range of this insect is restricted to the genus Eucalyptus. It is particularly damaging to young plants, seedlings in nurseries, and newly established plantations.
