The primary host plants include numerous eucalyptus species used in forestry and landscaping. The wasp focuses its reproductive efforts on young, actively growing shoots, leaves, and petioles, where the larvae thrive by consuming internal plant tissues.

The biological cycle of the pest is intimately tied to the formation of galls. The female wasp oviposits into the plant tissue, and as the larvae develop, they secrete substances that induce the host plant to grow a gall. This structure provides the larvae with both food and protection from environmental stress and natural enemies.
