Servaisia rossica is a dipteran insect belonging to the Sarcophagidae family, commonly known as flesh flies. While most members of this family are saprophagous, Servaisia rossica interacts with cereal crops in ways that categorize it as a potential pest in agricultural ecosystems, requiring precise identification and monitoring in field conditions.

The primary hosts for this insect include various cereal species such as wheat, barley, and rye. These crops provide the necessary environment for the fly to complete its developmental stages, particularly during the early stages of plant growth when the stems are tender and the nutritional requirements of the larvae are met within the plant tissue.

The biology and lifecycle of Servaisia rossica follow the standard pattern of complete metamorphosis: egg, larva (three instars), pupa, and adult.
