Shivaphis is a genus of aphids belonging to the family Aphididae (order Hemiptera). These insects are specialized feeders that predominantly infest specific hardwood trees. Although they are small, their ability to reproduce rapidly can lead to significant infestations that threaten the health of various ornamental and forestry species.

The primary host plants for species such as Shivaphis celti are trees of the genus Celtis (hackberries). The aphids primarily feed on the underside of leaves, which allows them to remain protected from environmental factors and predators during the early stages of colony formation.

The biology of Shivaphis involves a complex seasonal cycle, including the production of both winged and wingless forms to facilitate dispersal. Overwintering occurs in the egg stage, typically found in the crevices of the tree bark. As temperatures rise in spring, nymphs emerge to begin their feeding cycle on newly developed foliage.
