Siphlonurus is a genus of mayflies (order Ephemeroptera) belonging to the family Siphlonuridae. These insects are widely recognized for their aquatic larval stage, which takes place in freshwater environments such as streams, rivers, and ponds. The life cycle is complex, involving numerous molts before the final metamorphosis into the winged adult stage.

In terms of agricultural impact, Siphlonurus is not considered a crop pest. The nymphs (larvae) feed on algae, detritus, and other microorganisms found in aquatic environments. Adult mayflies lack functional mouthparts, meaning they do not feed on any plant tissues. Consequently, they pose zero threat to field crops, orchards, or vegetable gardens.

The biology of these insects is tied to aquatic ecosystems. After the adult stage, which lasts only a few hours or days, reproduction occurs, and eggs are deposited back into the water.
