Unlike herbivorous pests that attack plant tissues, this insect functions as a specialized parasitoid. It plays a significant role in ecosystems by regulating populations of various Diptera, primarily flies that breed in decaying organic matter and livestock manure.

This species is of particular interest in agriculture because it operates within the complex web of biological pest control. While it does not directly damage crops, its role as a hyperparasitoid can be detrimental to farmers who rely on mass-rearing beneficial insects (such as predatory mites or other parasitic wasps) to manage house fly or stable fly infestations.
