As a member of this diverse family, it acts as a specialized parasitoid, often associated with wood-boring beetles that infest various deciduous trees. This species primarily attacks host plants such as oak, beech, and other hardwood species. The life cycle is intricately tied to the presence of xylophagous larvae (wood-borers) living beneath the bark. The female wasp is highly efficient at locating these larvae, even when they are hidden deep within the wood, by sensing vibrations or chemical cues produced by the host larvae.
