Spodoptera pecten belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Noctuidae. This species is recognized as a significant polyphagous pest capable of causing substantial damage to agricultural production, primarily within its native range in Asia.
The pest targets a wide range of host plants, including cereal grains, vegetables, and technical crops. It poses a particular threat to rice paddies, maize, various grasses, and several legumes, consuming foliage and damaging the reproductive organs of the plants.
