Stygotantulus (Stygotantulus stocki) represents a unique biological object, belonging to the class of higher crustaceans, subclass Tantulocarida. Unlike most agricultural pests, it is a microscopic ectoparasite that primarily inhabits aquatic or soil environments closely associated with plant roots in specific ecological niches.

Systematically, this species belongs to the family Deoterthridae. Its study is of great importance for understanding the interactions between microorganisms and soil fauna with the root systems of higher plants. Despite their minute size, members of this order can significantly affect the viability of specific plant species kept in high-moisture conditions.
