The Gold-horned grasshopper (Taeniopoda auricornis) is a member of the order Orthoptera and the family Romaleidae. This large species of grasshopper is primarily native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Central America, with a significant presence in Mexico. It is well-known for its distinctive bright coloration and iconic gold-tinted antennae, which make it a highly recognizable species in its natural habitat.
This pest is characterized by its polyphagous feeding habits, meaning it consumes a wide variety of plant species. The primary crops affected by its feeding include corn, legumes, and various vegetables.
