Description

Taylorilygus is a genus of plant bugs within the family Miridae, order Hemiptera. These insects are recognized as significant agricultural pests due to their feeding habits, which directly target the reproductive structures of plants, causing substantial yield losses in various geographical regions.

The primary crop affected by Taylorilygus is cotton, where it is known to cause severe damage to squares and bolls. However, its host range is quite broad, extending to various legumes, horticultural crops, and numerous wild plant species that serve as alternate hosts throughout the growing season.

The biology of this pest involves several developmental stages, starting from eggs deposited inside plant tissue. The nymphs pass through multiple instars, closely resembling the adults but lacking fully developed wings.
