Description

The genus Trachea belongs to the Noctuidae family within the order Lepidoptera. These moths, often referred to in agricultural contexts due to the impact of their larvae on vegetation, are significant pests that require careful monitoring in both horticultural and field crop environments.

These insects primarily feed on a variety of plants, particularly those within the Amaranthaceae family. They are known to infest sugar beets, spinach, and various vegetables. The larvae (caterpillars) are voracious eaters, focusing their activity on the foliage of host plants, which can significantly weaken the crop's vitality.

The biological development of the Trachea species follows a complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The lifecycle is highly dependent on environmental conditions, with pupation typically occurring in the soil.
