Trirhithrum fraternum is a fly species belonging to the Tephritidae family within the order Diptera. Known as an African fruit fly, this pest is a significant concern for horticulture, as it exhibits specific host preferences and can cause substantial damage to developing fruits if left uncontrolled.

The host range of this pest primarily includes various species within the Solanaceae family and other tropical or subtropical fruit-bearing plants.
