Antoferine

Description

Antoferine is a natural alkaloid extracted from plants of the Annonaceae family. In modern agronomy, this substance is classified as a bioinsecticide of natural origin, used for environmentally friendly control of harmful insect populations in both greenhouse and open-field conditions.

Chemically, Antoferine belongs to the class of isoquinoline alkaloids. Its mechanism of action involves a specific effect on the nervous system of arthropods, leading to the disruption of nerve impulse conduction and subsequent paralysis of the pest. Unlike synthetic pyrethroids, this substance exhibits high selectivity and low toxicity to warm-blooded organisms.

The product is mainly used against a wide range of sucking and chewing insects, such as aphids, thrips, spider mites, and lepidopteran larvae. It is integrated into pest management systems for vegetable, fruit, berry, and ornamental crops, where short pre-harvest intervals are critical.

Application of Antoferine requires strict adherence to dosages, as the efficacy of natural alkaloids is highly dependent on weather conditions, particularly the level of ultraviolet radiation, which can accelerate the degradation of the active ingredient on leaf surfaces. It is recommended to perform treatments in the evening or early morning to avoid direct sunlight.

Safety precautions include the use of basic personal protective equipment for skin and respiratory protection, despite the organic nature of the component. It is also important to prevent working solutions from entering water bodies, as the substance, possessing insecticidal properties, may pose a risk to aquatic entomofauna if present in high concentrations.
