Description
Fructose is a monosaccharide utilized in modern agronomy primarily as a constituent of biostimulants, stress-relief products, and adjuvants. It acts as a vital source of chemical energy, playing a central role in the metabolic pathways of plants and supporting cellular processes during periods of high growth demand.
The primary mechanism of action involves the rapid assimilation of fructose by plant tissues. When applied exogenously, it provides an immediate energy boost, enabling the plant to maintain essential physiological activities even under adverse conditions, such as drought, extreme temperature fluctuations, or herbicide-induced stress.
In practice, fructose is often incorporated into tank mixes with foliar fertilizers and pesticides. It serves to improve the compatibility and absorption of other inputs by acting as a carrier, which helps to transport nutrient elements across the leaf cuticle and into the plant cells more effectively.
This substance is applicable to a wide range of crops, including cereals, industrial crops, and horticulture. Its use is most beneficial during high-demand growth stages, such as vegetative development, flowering, and fruit setting, where the plant's natural energy stores may be insufficient to support rapid biomass accumulation.
Operational safety and precautions include strict adherence to recommended concentrations. Excessively high levels of sugars on leaf surfaces can theoretically encourage the growth of opportunistic fungal pathogens. It is advised to perform applications during early morning or late afternoon to minimize degradation by UV radiation.
